Agri-Business

KISI helps the community to shift from subsistence farming to income generating agricultural projects such as:

• Horticultural farming
• Dairy farming
• Beekeeping
• Fish farming
• Banana farming

It also helps in identifying locally available resources in the community and training them on value addition of their produce. In value addition the community is trained on:
• Soya processing
• Milking jelly production
• Candle making
• Shoes polish production
• Vegetable drying and packaging
• Making of banana biscuits
• Animal feed processing (concentrates)

Training
Despite the recent campaigns in favour of general education, the SME sector still lacks critical skills. Entrepreneurs themselves often do not have the necessary technical and managerial skills. Almost all the women entrepreneurs interviewed admitted that they needed professional assistance to keep their accounts.
