At the Kiini Sustainable Initiative (KISI), we believe that Kenyans, their ideas, and their institutions must define and drive the country’s transformation and development. To effect positive change in Kenya, we place unequivocal importance on building a critical mass of activists, thinkers, and leaders who will contribute broadly and effectively to the fight against poverty and injustice.

Based in the district of Nyeri, in the Mt. Kenya region of Central Kenya, KISI empowers local community members through educational, management, and community outreach programs that focus on three key areas: local governance and justice, household incomes, and public health and environment. These themes cut across complex issues — like poor public education, and HIV/AIDS — that Kenyans face on a daily basis as they work to improve their lives, their communities, and their country. Our goal is to empower otherwise underprivileged and marginalized people, so that they can better realize their potential.
